Watching the news today has gotten me worked up.

What’s wrong with this headline,” Labor Day Weekend is the second biggest weekend of the year for Bar-B-Que.”? Let’s just say it’s all about perspective.

I hate how these news stations throw around terms to make themselves look smart only to totally misuse the term? An example of what I’m talking about would be the word Bar-B-Que. Every Labor Day, you hear it all over the news about Bar-B-Que and the news stories come with video and pictures of the event happening in back yards all over the country.  The problem is those cute videos all show people cooking hamburgers and hot dogs this, as any self-respecting Texan knows, is grilling. To Bar-B-Que you need to use the smoking method of cooking.  Smoking takes time and patience, it’s not something for the chef who can’t tell the difference between Mesquite and Live Oak to handle. You can’t just pour some lighter fluid on some cheap charcoal and call it Bar-B-Que, it’s quite frankly offensive to even compare. So, is it too much to ask that these news authorities do a little research before they start throwing around words you do not understand? As I think about that, YES, it probably is.

Happy Labor Day weekend!
