Tom Petty in Cameron Crowe’s first film, “Heartbreakers Beach Party” is on the big screen.

It’s been forty years since Cameron Crowe’s first film, “Heartbreakers Beach Party” aired briefly on MTV, and now you can see it on the big screen here ins San Antonio.  The classic ‘80s documentary captures Tom Petty and the band in 1982-1983 on the “Long After Dark” tour. After its initial airing on MTV in 1983, the film was deemed too experimental and pulled from the air. Earlier this year someone came across the 16mm reels that were thought to be lost. The film has been fully remastered and has 19 minutes of never-before-seen footage.
