Large Mexican Eagle

I noticed this Large Mexican Eagle(Northern Crested Caracara) while walking near my home. There are 4 or 5 of them living in the area. I was a bit startled when he flew over my head. He’s at least 2 1/2 feet tall with a 5 foot wingspan. The Caracaras are a common subject of folklore. They are called a Mexican Eagle although they look like a long legged Hawk. The Caracara is actually a Falcon and they are the only Falcons that collect material to build a nest. They are beautiful creatures. Have you seen any in your neighborhood? I find myself looking for them on my daily walks :)
