KONO Soldier Salutes Sgt. Paulino Ortiz

The Hero in Blues: A San Antonio Marine’s Legacy and Enduring Spirit

From the heart of his daughter, Brenda Ortiz, we honor the memory and service of Sgt. Paulino Ortiz of San Antonio, a dedicated Marine and a cherished father. Sgt. Ortiz served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, a tenure that began when his daughter was just four years old. His commitment to duty was matched only by his commitment to family, as he spent those years nurturing a love for the simple joys of life, like fishing for dinner every day with his children on Padre Island and Flower Bluff.

Brenda remembers her father’s Marine blues as the uniform that she loved the most, a symbol of the pride and honor he carried with him. Sgt. Ortiz’s legacy is one of heroism and warmth, touching the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the community of San Antonio. Known for his popularity and the love he received everywhere he went; he remains a figure of much respect in his community and from those who knew him.

Though he passed away in August of 1993, his memory continues to be a light of inspiration for Brenda, who sees in herself the reflection of her father’s spirit. Every Father Day that passes is one of mix emotions, the sense of loss, yet the pride and gratitude for having had such a great man as a father.

Sgt. Ortiz now rests at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery among fellow heroes, his story a testament to the valor and heart of those who serve. We join Brenda in honoring her father, Sgt. Paulino Ortiz, a true hero not just in the eyes of a daughter, but in the eyes of a grateful nation and hometown.

Thank you, Brenda, for sharing your father’s story with us. Your love and remembrance for him shine as brightly as the legacy he leaves behind. ❤️🙏 A Big Military City USA Salute to Sgt. Paulino Ortiz
