The youngest of three boys, Private Ortiz decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and enlist in the Marine Corps. As a child, he always enjoyed pretending to be a police officer, with a toy gun in a holster, a set of handcuffs and a badge. His family always knew this would be his career path but never imagined him becoming a military police officer.
