Friday you will get a chance to see a “Worm Blood Moon”, but you will have to be up late. The peak of activity will be between midnight until 2am.

So what is a “Worm Blood Moon” anyway? Here’s what I found.

A “Worm Blood Moon” is a term that combines two different phenomena: a “worm moon” and a “blood moon.”

Worm Moon: This is the name given to the full moon that occurs in March. The name comes from the idea that, historically, this time of year marks the arrival of warmer temperatures, causing the ground to thaw and worms to emerge, signaling the start of spring.

Blood Moon: This is a term often used to describe a total lunar eclipse, where the Earth’s shadow falls on the moon, causing it to take on a reddish color. The red hue happens because of the way sunlight filters through Earth’s atmosphere, with the shorter blue wavelengths scattering, leaving the longer red wavelengths to illuminate the moon.

So, a Worm Blood Moon would refer to a combination of the Worm Moon in March coinciding with a total lunar eclipse, giving the moon a reddish tint while marking the start of spring.

So, there you go and now you know. Will you be staying up late for this or will you what for the pictures on social media?
