According to Forbes “Don’t Stop Believin’”, is the “Biggest Song Of All Time”.  It was released in October 1981 as the second single from Journey’s seventh studio album, Escape and is a Recording Industry Association of America 18-times-platinum-certified single. That’s Pretty significant, right?  You have probably heard it at sporting events, movies, TV even politics, it seems to be everywhere. So how did the biggest song of all time come about? Here’s the story I heard.

Journey keyboard player Jonathan Cain says he got the idea for the song while he was struggling to make his break in L.A.  feeling lost he called his father for some advice; he asked if he should come back to Chicago and give up on being a rock star. His dad, without hesitation said, ‘No, son. Stay the course. We have a vision. It’s gonna happen. Don’t stop believin’.’”

A few years later, when the band journey was formed, Jonathan Cain pitched his idea.  Steve Perry who co-wrote the lyrics with Cain said, the song came bubbling out during rehearsal in a warehouse in Oakland.  Doesn’t it seen that all the great songs just kina happen?  With the chemistry of course.
