Jazwares has issued a recall for approximately 125,000 America’s Got Talent toy microphones that contain lithium-ion batteries because they pose a risk of fire.

According to a news release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the microphone marketed by the South Florida-based company amplifies the user’s voice and has treble, bass and echo switches. The toy is powered by lithium-ion batteries, and Jazware LLC has received three reports of the batteries igniting.

The spark caused smoke and fire damage to walls and floors, but no injuries were reported.

The toy was sold at Meijer, DD’s Discounts/Ross and Target stores nationwide, Nebraska Furniture Mart stores in Nebraska, Iowa, Texas and Kansas and online at www.Amazon.com and www.Target.com from October 2020 through October 2022, the CPSC said. The price for the microphone was between $20 and $25.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled microphones and contact Jazwares for a full refund, the agency said. Jazware said that customers will receive a refund in the form of a prepaid gift card.

Consumers are advised to dispose of the microphone in accordance with local and state regulations. The toy should not be thrown away in conventional trash containers, the CPSC said.
